1,2,3…


It’s a classic in Taiwan, as people take photos they would count to three then maybe ask you to smile and take the shot.
It’s perfectly fine with with me, but why do professional photographers do the same?
How does one expect to take a natural photo, catch a moment while counting to three?

I have seen it so often, the photographer would count to 3 and take the photo while everybody is putting on a forced smile, and then move onto something else. The best moment to take that group shot is right after the first shot, when the subject is more natural.

The secret is to be fast, and ready! zoom in up into the group to take some close up shots as well.

Practice and be quick and always smiling, it helps!
